Ever since Raiders of the Lost Ark first appeared in cinemas in 1981, Indiana Jones quickly captured the hearts of audiences all over the world. Born of two of the greatest creative minds in the filmmaking industry (Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas), the adventures of the gung-ho archaeologist made him a cultural icon, and the franchise remains one of the bedrocks of modern cinema.

Released in tandem with the most recent film in the series, Stern’s Indiana Jones Pinball Machine features relics and artifacts from all four major movies. As well as several pop bumpers, a kicker and drop targets, the playfield is augmented with a toy Grail from the Last Crusade, which glows with a mystical energy. Standing nearby is a small model of the Sankara Stone from the Temple of Doom, and the legendary Crystal Skull perches on top of a ramp on the far left side. Finally, the Ark of the Covenant sits imposingly at the top of the playfield, using two electromagnets to exert powerful unseen forces on the ball. During the game’s multiball mode, it rises ominously from its cradle and lifts its lid as balls spill out from over the brim.

Meanwhile in the confines of the Map Room, situated next to the Ark, players must fire their balls into the claustrophobic, frantic area in a desperate attempt to hit all three M-A-P drop targets, or have to contend with the menacing Cairo Swordsman.

The Indiana Jones Pinball Machine is a heartfelt nostalgic tribute towards one of cinema’s finest heroes, expressed in a truly timeless game. It’s a must-have for any die-hard fan of Indy. Take a leap of faith into the fantastical, swashbuckling adventure, and prepare to find fortune and glory!
